North East Area Drug Detection Dog Team

The Northeast Area Drug Detection Dog Team plays a vital role in supporting prisons across the region by preventing the supply of illicit drugs and other prohibited items. Working across multiple establishments, the team provides specialist searching capability using highly trained detection dogs and experienced handlers.

The team delivers both planned and reactive support, assisting establishments with security operations, intelligence-led searches, visits, reception activity, and incidents of emerging risk. Their work is central to disrupting criminal activity, reducing the availability of drugs, and supporting safer, more stable prison environments.

Through professionalism, skill, and close partnership working with prison staff and security teams, the North East Area Drug Detection Dog Team makes a significant contribution to protecting staff, prisoners, and the wider public helping to keep prisons safe, secure, and focused on rehabilitation.

RESET

Founded in 2017, RESET began as a mutual-aid support group for soldiers at Catterick Garrison struggling with addiction.
In partnership with North Yorkshire Horizons the initiative evolved into a bespoke service addressing the unique challenges of addictive behaviours within all branches of the Armed Forces regardless of rank, age, unit or gender. Defence Medical Services recognise 'lived experience and peer support' as best practice for recovery and RESET have supported several hundred personnel to remain in service and operationally deployable, working with Welfare Specialists and healthcare professionals.
RESET continues to transform lives and enhance operational readiness through recovery.
